Senior Washington Representative, Union of Concerned Scientists
Pamitha Weerasinghe is Washington Representative for the Clean Vehicles program at the Union of Concerned Scientists. In his role, he interacts with Congress, executive branch agencies, and the White House on topics pertaining to fuel-efficient cars, electric vehicles, and fuels policy. Prior to joining UCS, Pamitha spent six and a half years with the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Science, Space, and Technology, primarily serving as professional staff on the Subcommittee on the Environment. In that role he worked to protect against attacks on science at EPA and NOAA, advanced legislation to improve our nation’s weather forecasting capabilities, and conducted necessary oversight over agencies within the Subcommittee’s jurisdiction. Pamitha earned a BA in criminology and criminal justice from the University of Maryland, College Park, and a JD from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.
