WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Senate voted tonight to confirm Russell Vought to direct the U.S. Office of Management and Budget (OMB). The Coalition for Sensible Safeguards (CSS) and its allies told Congress that Vought is unqualified to lead the agency. Rachel Weintraub, executive director of the Coalition for Sensible Safeguards, released the following statement:
“Vought authored Project 2025, supports concentrating extraordinary power in the Office of the President, and harbors a dangerous and radical ideological opposition to regulations that protect workers, consumers, families, our environment, and public health and safety. At OMB, Vought will be in a position to hurt all Americans and set in motion a series of devastating deregulatory disasters.
“Senators who led the all-night session opposing Vought’s confirmation deserve thanks and appreciation for their hard work and leadership. CSS will continue to work to defeat threats to the integrity and effectiveness of our system of safeguards.”
